 Your Vehicle Registration Notice is Changing
The North Carolina General Assembly passed a new law to create a combined motor vehicle registration renewal and property tax collection system. In doing so, the new law transfers the responsibility for motor vehicle tax collection from the 100 counties across North Carolina to the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The New Yancey County GIS Website
The Yancey Mapping Department is now providing a new GIS website to better assist the general public. You will find that this site will be more user friendly, as well as provide proper, updated information relating to all land and tax data within Yancey County. Much of the information like floodplains, address structure points, printable tax cards is still not available due to the early stages of the project. We ask for your patience as we work diligently to provide Yancey County with a more professional, and resourceful website.

Tax Payment Drop Box
For the convenience of Yancey County Taxpayers, the Tax Collections Office has placed a payment drop box near the front entrance of the courthouse at the top of the sidewalk. Directions for drop box payment are posted at the location. Envelopes are provided inside the drop box for payment by check. Please do not deposit cash.
